We Carry Them With Us In Our Hearts

We see Halloween, All Hallowed Evening, the night before All Saints’ Day, in the rear view mirror.

Yesterday we sat at the table with our loved ones and thanked God for all our blessings. My greatest blessing were the people gathered with me and the ones not gathered but present in my heart.

Do you know that the day after All Saints’ Day is All Souls’ Day? Dia de los Muertos celebrates the same principle – honoring all the people we love that have gone on ahead into the unknowable. Only faith guides the way.

At Thanksgiving time and during the month of November, while we remember our loved ones, I want to take a moment to recognize and honor a few of my faith guides. My parents, my Godparents and Joan S. Grey top the list.

I hope you get a chance to do the same.
