Give me this day, a daily index card

seussEach day, I keep my eyes open for a saying that resonates or a hint that guides.  My resolution to work on NUTs–nagging unfinished tasks–had me sifting for nuggets from old notebooks. I excavated these words of wisdom from Dr Seuss and printed them on an index card for meditation …

From here on earth,
from my small place,
I ask of You way out in space:
Please tell all men in every land
what You and I both understand.
Please tell all men that peace is good.
That’s all that need be understood
in every world
in Your great sky.
We understand. Both You and I.

A Prayer for a Child, Dr. Seuss’s painting with its accompanying poem were printed in Collier’s on December 23, 1955.
