The weather in New England and the Mid Atlantic States joined the Midwest in below freezing temperatures this week. Holiday decorations are springing up all over town. And advertisements for great holiday gifts are everywhere. It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas. (cue the choir!)
(Triumphant music swells) And today, just in time for the holiday retail season, Rudella the Ordinary-Nosed Reindeer hit the bookstands and is available now at Amazon.!
It’s not easy being Rudolf the Red-Nosed Reindeer’s ordinary-nosed little sister!
And I love to spin a good yarn about an underdog. (Or in this case an overlooked reindeer.) Rudella has big dreams of leading Santa’s sleigh on Christmas Eve. But unlike her big brother, Rudella’s nose isn’t shiny and red — so of course she has to fight for a chance to catch Santa’s eye and earn his trust.
With determination and resourceful thinking, Rudella sheds new light on a long standing problem –and makes a little Christmas Magic for everyone.
(cue choir again) Some people want to fill the world with silly love songs. I want to fill the world with optimistic fairytales full of magic and hope. We have all had times in our lives when we felt overlooked or under-appreciated. This heartwarming holiday tale extends hope to every child who dreams of turning the ordinary into something extraordinary.
What an exciting week I have had! With the help of my trusty team – Steven Trumble, amazing illustrator, Alexandra Barkette from JulieInkAuthorConsulting, Kimberly Goebel, editor extraordinaire, Deb Chouinard, elementary school reading expert and my trusted family, the latest figment of my imagination has become a book! I have enjoyed agonizing over word choice for the final round of editing and carefully balancing text, text placement and fabulous illustrations to bring this dream into the reality of a book.

I hope this story brings as much wonder and awe to other readers as it has to me.
