A circle of friends remembered our dear friend Joan S. Grey, co-founder of this blog, on the anniversary of her death.
They gathered at the labyrinth where Joan often walked and dedicated a bench to her honor and in remembrance.
Joan stepped out of the ‘Long Grey Line’ into our hearts, and there she will remain forever.
It took me a long time to publish this blog. I wrote it in July. Grief is a strange thing. Sometimes life’s joys surround me and I can laugh as if Joan is still with me. But sometimes the wave of loss knocks me so hard I feel I just learned that she left this corporal world. The sadness of this irreplaceable loss dominates my worldview and leaves me bereft and floundering.
Then a lone butterfly appears as if out of nowhere and flutters by. Hope resurfaces: we are not alone.
For all you friends who join me suffering this loss, and all other losses, let us stay united in our sorrow and renew our pledge to support each other as we try to follow in our loved one’s footsteps.

Thank you so VERRY much for this indesCardCure honoring Joan. You are spot on about grief. It never ceases to amaze me how all of a sudden Joan’s memory will pop up and along come the tears. I will always miss Joan. She was such an important person in my life. Hope all is well with you and your family.
