Memorial Days

It’s the 4th anniversary of the day Joan Smith Grey died.

I never like to commemorate dates. I think of Joan all the time, and at random times, and her spirit is very much alive to me. But on this day in particular I allow myself to feel just how much I miss her still.

I can only think of 2 appropriate responses to this sadness.

1. Look for a message directly from her and take it to heart — incorporate it into my daily goals.  Luckily for me I have a small collection of some of her papers. But today a large image caught my eye.

LIVE YOUR BEST LIFE!

I am trying! But today is a good day to renew my efforts.

“Another belief of mine: that everyone else my age is an adult, whereas I am merely in disguise.” — Margaret Atwood, The Handmaiden’s Tale

2. Give my love and support to the rest of her fan club.

So I hereby extend a warm virtual hug to all of Joan’s other best friends out there.

If the spirit moves you, I invite you to share, with your comments or any other way, any memories of Joan or any way she shaped your life.

Namaste

  1. Oh how I miss that girl! I, too, think of her all the time. Fortunately, I receive welcomed reminders of her.
At a gathering of her WP classmates, while reminiscing it was said, “She was the best of all of us.” So true! ❤️
