How are those New Year Resolutions Working Out?

Time to check in! How are you doing? Gone to the gym lately? I’m caught reaching for a food chemically formulated to addict me with an added bonus of zero nutritional value. It probably won’t make me healthier.

Let’s not look at our failures. Let’s take pride in our baby steps to a better version of ourselves.

Consistency. It’s not a word with much cachet right now. Who ever talks about the value of small but consistent improvement? But all those gym memberships going unused remind us—baby steps get you there. Take a walk. Use the stairs.

My co-blogger Joan personified consistency.   I still marvel at ways she transformed her annoyance at a situation or person by saying ‘Bless them, change me’.  I need much more practice and maybe even a change of heart before I have success with that. Joan kept energy conservation so in the forefront of her priorities that even when her strength began to fail her during chemo treatments she still got up and walked across the room to turn out a light left on in a hallway.

That splash of big change I wanted to make now sits in the basement with my Beanie Babies® collection.

Quietly, consistently, I hope to pursue my goals of bettering myself. I’m living into Joan’s virtue and using this late winter period to stay focused on daily improvement and growth.
