I volunteered for the job of helping to go through some of the many boxes of my co-blogger’s papers to see what needs to be preserved and what should be recycled.
What a wonderful, organized legacy Joan leaves us. So many thoughtfully planned faith programs and guided learning experiences. So many prayers for so many different purposes! So many probing questions for groups to ponder and discuss in the search for the true meaning of life.
In this task of sorting and discerning I found that the exact inspiration I needed to sustain me on my journey magically appeared before me. Whether I had been worrying about the state of the world or even what I should cook for dinner, I found comfort and guidance in whatever words of Joan’s crossed my path. And I truly feel this messaging is our friend Joan guiding us from above.

In reading and curating (to borrow a word from Joan) all the thought provoking and spirit awakening material, I have come to one startling truth that supersedes all this material and one message that rises above all the others:
I am TERRIBLE at this job!
I can’t find anything that is no longer needed! I cannot detect any paper that should be recycled! All these lesson plans, prayers, probing questions feel like messages and guidance Joan still wants us to have and employ in our lives.
Here I think Joan is telling me to try a little harder! So, in the interest of progress, de-cluttering (which is one of the beliefs Joan espoused) and continuing her legacy, I will share with you the messages I find, springing up at just the moment I need it.
Maybe it will arrive at just the moment you need to see it too.
And then, I vow to put it in the recycle bin. Unless any of you want it????
In this time of political upheaval and uncertainty, I will myself to change my superpower – from worrying to – spreading love and understanding. I will keep, and share, the faith.

Hi Jane! It’s wonderful you get to peruse Joan’s papers. I love that you sent us these tidbits of wisdom from her. I would like to have her writings about “Traveling With the Turtle: A Small Group Process in Women’s Spirituality and Peacemaking” if you come across any. It was a light-purple-colored 8″x10″ workbook about an inch thick. She led our Namaste group in it at Our Lady Queen of Peace way back in, I think, 2011 or 2012. I already have the workbook itself. Our group used the book over several months of meetings. If you find any papers or prayers or leader notes she took to lead us in the discussions I would love to have them. I don’t want to add to your burden though so if it’s too much to do or you just don’t want to, I would understand. Thank you for keeping Joan’s legacy alive!Sincerely,Brenda Hickey
